A Greyhound is one of my year-round favorites, especially with brunch! You can use either gin or vodka in this drink, my preference is vodka. Especially with Tito’s!
The nice thing about a two-ingredient cocktail is that you can order it just about anywhere that serves liquor. It’s a classic and well-known cocktail that you won’t see on many bar menus but is almost always available to order – similar to a whiskey and coke. It’s a great drink order when you’re at a dive bar and wanting something on the refreshing side. It’s not so fancy that your bartender will look at you sideways, but it will definitely hit the spot!
It’s a breeze to pull this together at home too. Simply fill your glass with ice, add two ounces of vodka (or gin), top with four ounces of grapefruit juice, and garnish with lemon or lime. That’s all it takes! You can always sweeten it up with simple syrup as well which is just a one-to-one ratio of water and sugar.
When enjoying a greyhound during the spring and summer I like to use fresh grapefruit juice and mint for garnish. Salting the rim to make it a Salty Dog is always a great option too!
